The Unseen Shoppe is the business to look out for in 2022.
The local hobby store is based in Westville, Kwa-Zulu Natal, and is managed by an amazing and knowledgeable person named Bradley.
The Unseen Shoppe sells products from different types of hobbies such as Games Workshop products (BloodBowl and Warhammer) to Dungeons and Dragons. They also sell Pokemon cards and well-known board games such as Monopoly.
The store has two sections which are the actual shop area where people can come in and buy products like Blood Bowl and an events area where people from surrounding areas such as Amanzimtoti where I live, can come and play games with like-minded individuals.
In March 2020 at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in South Africa, the events area of the store was considered too small for the requirements of the lock-down laws so events had to cease until December 2020. The store held a fundraising event to raise funds to buy and revamp an existing empty store next door. Since January 2021, events have begun again while still adhering to the lock-down regulations.
The selling of the figurines and playing systems has grown since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the increased lock-down times, people now have a lot more time on their hands to take on a hobby.
One of the main international suppliers of the Unseen Shoppe with regular stock is Games Workshop. Games Workshop is based in Nottingham England and they manufacture specialised hobbies of Warhammer 40k, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Necromunda, Blood Bowl and Battle of Middle Earth-based in the Lord of the Rings universe.
Games Workshop has two other divisions of Forgeworld and Black Library. Forgeworld makes specialised resin models for their product lines such as Star Players for Blood Bowl and Black Library is their publishing arm that makes the rule books and novels for the hobby products.
The reason I have chosen the Unseen Shoppe as a business to look out for in 2022, is that the staff are knowledgeable and will assist people with their new hobby such as Blood Bowl and will also help with hobby clubs such as Amanzimtoti Warhammer Club and Durban Wargamming Club with tournaments and fun days.
The COVID-19 pandemic would hopefully wind down in 2022 and more people will be vaccinated and most people would want to come out of their homes to socialise and this is the perfect place to do so.
In the meantime, Unseen Shoppe has responded to the pandemic by developing an online version of their store where people can still buy their favourite products and games online.
