Amon Ra Travel and Tours (Pty) Ltd is a travel agency based in Amanzimtoti Kwa Zulu Natal. The company was founded by Carl Coetzee in 2014 after many years working for well-known travel agencies such as Griffin Travel and Thompsons Holidays. Carl Coetzee is also the Managing Director and senior travel agent of the travel agency.
Carl Coetzee has a Diploma in International Travel from Varsity College plus numerous certificates and diplomas in Business Management, Sales Management and Pastel Accounting. He is also in the process of getting a degree in Corporate Communication.
The travel agency has three divisions which are:
- Corporate and Leisure travel
- Teach English in Asia and
- Virtual Assistance
The corporate and leisure travel division handles travel packages for individual holiday makers and business travellers to predominately overseas countries.
Amon Ra Travel and Tours (Pty) Ltd handles flights, accommodation and transfers for the business traveller and tours and cruises for the holiday maker. The clientele for this division are single people that are working, newlyweds and special interest groups such as students wanting to go on a tour of Egypt.
The teach English in Asia division handles employment of teachers in South Africa to Asian countries such as Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and South Korea. These are the visa requirements for the countries mentioned above:
- the applicant must have a Degree in any field (except Cambodia whereby a degree is not a legal requirement unless the applicant wishes to earn a higher salary)
- the applicant needs a TEFL certificate (this can be studied in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam)
- the applicant must be a native English speaker or fluent in English, if English is not their first language
- the applicant must have a valid South African passport.
The third division is the virtual assistant service which handles all the admin, corporate communication/public relations and invoicing for businesses and individuals either based in South Africa or overseas. Amon Ra Travel and Tours (Pty) Ltd works on a retainer or per project basis and works flexible hours during the week.
The travel agency also works with an accounting software company called Omni Accounts which is based in Westville Kwa-Zulu Natal. The travel agency offers reasonable pricing for distributing the accounting software products to both the VAASA members and the clientele.
Amon Ra Travel and Tours (Pty) Ltd also works with a social hobby club called Amanzimtoti Warhammer Club for team building events in the south coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal.
