Time Management Can Be Tricky
Member Feature: by Melanie Wallis of Mela’s VA Services
Confession time! I fell into a trap of my own making!
There are thousands of amazing course’s out there that help you create the life of your dreams. And I pretty much signed up for each and every one that came across my news feed.
Which lead to complete stagnation on my own goals, I was so sure that the next course would teach me to write better, connect better and be able to sell things. You know the “ice to Eskimo’s” saying!
But all that really happened is that February ran away from me, we are now almost mid-March and I haven’t really got anything to show for all those courses I signed up, except an inbox with more than 100 emails.
Have you fallen into the bright and shiny object syndrome?
Has your time management suddenly disappeared as you slog your way through a couple of new courses, not giving 100% on any of them?
Break the cycle – get back on top of your time management and your goals. It may be the mid-March, but that doesn’t mean it’s too late for getting back on top of things.
Here are my top tips for getting back into the swing of things:
- Write it all down
- You don’t need a marketing style planner that cost’s X amount, mine is on an A4 page
- List your Why
- Put it up somewhere where you can see it daily
- Re-write all your goals (Yes, again!)
- Break them up into small pieces
- Set time aside, each day or every week to ensure you do one of those small pieces
- Delete all those emails with the bright objects into them
- Get help
- Exercise
- Eat right
- Don’t hit the snooze button in the morning
What will happen next?
With your mind rested and your body fed and all those distractions out of the way, you can then re-focus on your goals. On getting your business in line with achieving your goals, the latest catch phrase is S.M.A.R.T goals – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time bound.
This a good place to start if you haven’t gotten around to setting goals for your business this year. It becomes very hard to stay motivated through the hard times if you don’t have two things clear before you.
A path to follow and your Why are your most important keys to keeping you on track and going. Life can then throw you as many curve balls as it wants to, but you will still have a plan in place to put one foot in front of the other. As well as the motivation to keep you moving.
PS, don’t be afraid to ask for help.
